oh gurrrllllll yess.
i just got back from a trip to nyc last week for em's birthday. there is not enough time to recount all of our adventures. let's just say that it was every mom's dream of a lifetime trip. and yes, i even hear taylor swift singing "the best day" when i look at all of our photos. it was the best trip ever.
we had birthday dinner the night before we left for nyc.
our trip started with a playlist that pb made for us. all new york songs. we rode to the airport with lizzie and pb was our driver.
we met my sister there and em had a ginormous cinnamon roll for birthday breakfast. and she had a window seat.
then we landed at la guardia and em had her pic taken in the cockpit of the plane.
when i think about this trip, i will remember emily's green coat (a lifesaver because we could always spot her). i will remember little italy and emily's birthday dinner. i will remember the look on her face when she saw times square for the first time...and how much she loved it. i will remember my sister and lizzie trying to navigate our routes on the subway. i will remember how we thought we had the subway all figured out...until we ended up on the downtown side and we needed to go uptown. and how we bought fast passes to "jersey" that wouldn't work in manhattan. i will think about emily calling room service to ask for ice and how they didn't understand what (eye-ce) was. i'll always remember our morning coffees at starbuck's, the best pizza, sal's cannoli, breakfast at barney greengrass, freezing in central park, em's first purchase at tiffany's, the escalator at trump tower, the occupiers in times square, windows at macy's, the reality of ground zero, the immigrants statue at battery park, looking for hats and scarves, chinatown..."stay with your family", the christmas lights, the tree at rockefeller center, and the room spray that em loved so much in our hotel room.
it was such a magical time to visit new york. i know that sounds sappy, but it was. here are some iphone photos (sorry) from the best trip ever.
i can see this girl living there one day. her independent spirit is an inspiration.

drop it like it's hot
merry! merry! we are checking in with our monthly update. apologies to our family because i know this is a perfect way to keep up with our daily happenings. we are evidently in a different phase with the busyness of life now. we don't even sit down for dinner until at least 7:00, and then everyone is doing homework and getting ready for bed. and if it's a wednesday, we are really pressed because everyone wants to get settled in time to see modern family. we have had so much to post about, just less time.
so here is a glimpse of what we have been doing to for the holiday season...
on saturday, i went to the 7th annual cookie swap at a friend's house in my neighborhood. this is always an epic event. some people stay all day. i brought these goodies home.
on sunday, we went on a hunt for more lights and red ribbon for bows. while out, we spotted these...
i have a thing for mini-horses. i almost got on one for a photo but i would have been the only one in the ring of horses at the ride. kind of sad that i didn't now.
we have decorated our tree for the first christmas in our new house.
a little boy in pre-k (one of p b's favorite clients) made this drawing for him today in my art class.
it is an angel. and it is proudly hanging in our house now.
tonight we hung some lights on the porch. it's raining so i couldn't get a shot from the front.
and we did this garland tonight too.
we are listening to the avett brothers live, volume 3 right now. instead of putting the ipod on shuffle every night, we have decided to pick one artist/band and play the album all the way through during the evening. it's amazing what you don't realize you have! sunday night it was stevie wonder live from the rainbow theatre. amazing.
and last, a few teasers from our christmas card shoot last week. our living room had lights, a tripod on chairs, and a lot of loud music playing for this event. our card should be in this week. will post one soon. enjoy and happy holidays!
