albarino

we spent part of our spring break in the mountains a few weeks ago. pb and i love to visit asheville when we go. this was a short trip so we only had one afternoon to make a quick run to biltmore village. we walked around, spent ample time in j. crack, and then visited our favorite little restaurant, enoteca, for a quick afternoon treat. pb had an allagash and i discovered a new favorite wine, Morgadio Legado del Conde Albarino 2009. here is a lovely description:

A full-bodied, serious, dry Albariño similar to its sibling Morgadío incorporating wines made from the first pressing in a comparatively softer and more floral style.

critical acclaim:
"Pale yellow. High-pitched citrus fruits and minerals on the nose, with hints of honeysuckle and green apple coming up with air. Spicy and precise on the palate, offering tangy lemon and pink grapefruit qualities and brisk minerality. Dry, incisive, pure wine with a long, mineral-driven finish."

90 Points

it's my new favorite. cheers!
